About the desk
Outlet 247 files short briefs on the parts of retail that move at night: warehouse lettings, parcel volumes, port dwell times, cold storage bookings, and the delivery promises that depend on all of them.
We started in 2024 as an internal note passed around a handful of logistics teams who were tired of reading week-old trade coverage. It is still written for that audience — people who need to know what changed before their shift starts, not a narrative.
What a brief contains
Four things, in this order: what changed, who told us, what it means for the week ahead, and what would change our mind. If a brief cannot carry all four, it usually is not ready.
Sourcing
- Two operators, independently, before anything goes out. One source gets a brief held, not published.
- Named companies only where the company has confirmed the detail itself.
- Figures come from the people running the sites and the fleets, not from press releases.
- We do not take embargoed marketing material.
Corrections
Errors are corrected on the front page on the day we learn of them, with the original wording quoted so the change is visible. We do not quietly edit a brief after it has been read.
Funding
The desk is funded by reader subscriptions and by a small number of trade sponsors who have no sight of briefs before publication and no say in what runs.
